The Vineyard
In the heart of a 70-hectare preserved ecosystem nestled among hills and scrubland, Alain and Patricia cultivate an exceptional vineyard—using 100% organic methods—located in the southern part of the Saint-Chinian appellation, on soils that are predominantly clay-limestone.
The vineyard features an impressive array of grape varieties: Carignan, Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Muscat, Merlot, Viognier, Roussanne, and Marsanne (recently planted).
While the 30 hectares of vineyards are the centerpiece of the estate, they are bordered by scrubland, woods, and fruit trees (olive, almond, and peach trees, among others). The integration and coexistence of these different crops are one of the estate’s distinctive features.
Located just about 40 kilometers from the Mediterranean coast, Château de Gragnos’s location gives its grape varieties the freshness typical of southern wines.
